XRE200
The XRE200 External Routing Engine is a purpose-built server-class appliance that works with internal Routing Engines to provide additional processing power and control plane scalability for managing EX8200 Virtual Chassis configurations. The XRE200 will ship with Junos 10.4.

Resiliency and Availability: The XRE200 features redundant 160GB hard disk drives, redundant hot-swappable load-sharing power supplies, and redundant hot-swappable fans to ensure maximum availability.
Performance and Scalability: A 2.1 GHz Intel core2 dual processor with 2MB Layer 2 cache, 4GB DRAM and internal 4GB Flash ensure the XRE200 delivers the performance required to support EX8200-based Virtual Chassis configurations. For scalable connectivity to the EX8200 Virtual Chassis configuration, the XRE200 includes one fixed front-panel RJ-45 10/100/100BASE-T port and two slots for supporting optional four-port GbE Virtual Chassis Control Interface (VCCI) modules, which are used for XRE-to-XRE or XRE-to-Virtual Chassis connections. Using the optional GbE fiber-based SFP VCCI module, Virtual Chassis members can be separated by up to 40km.
Management: The XRE200 includes a front-panel LCD that can be used for device bring-up and configuration rollbacks, switch alarm reporting and LED status, and restoring switch default settings. A front-panel RJ-45 console port and the 10/100/1000BASE-T Ethernet port enable out-of-band management, while a front-panel USB drive is available for file storage. Four device management options are also available: the standard Junos OS CLI; the integrated J-Web device management tool; the Juniper Networks Network and Security Manager (NSM) solution for system-level management; and third-party management systems such as HP OpenView, IBM Tivoli, and Computer Associates Unicenter software.
