Allied Wireless Communications Corporation Selects Juniper Networks for Next Generation Mobile Infrastructure

AWCC Prepares Network to Deliver Unparalleled Mobile Services and Exceptional Customer Experience with Juniper's New Mobile Network

SUNNYVALE, CA, April 15, 2010 — Juniper Networks® (NYSE: JNPR) today announced it has been selected by Allied Wireless Communications Corporation (AWCC), a subsidiary of Atlantic Tele-Network, Inc. (NASDAQ: ATNI), to build a high-performance mobile infrastructure that ensures its customers have the highest quality wireless service today and in the future. Using Juniper's framework, AWCC will be able to accommodate evolving user behavior and expectations while improving the revenue opportunities of the network.

"AWCC is planning for the long-term demand of bandwidth driven by smartphones and other advanced devices," said Frank O'Mara, CEO of AWCC. "Delivering service to customers in this environment requires a partner that understands the importance of planning for the next stage of the mobile network. Juniper stood out as the best company to help us provide the highest quality wireless service and a superior customer experience."

In order to deliver on its commitment to customers, AWCC required a solution that offers an enhanced, secure user experience for mobile applications while improving the total network operating costs and revenue opportunities. It was also imperative that AWCC build a foundation for long-term expansion and, at the same time, provide the highest levels of customer satisfaction.

Unlike most legacy networks in the current mobile landscape, Juniper's "new network" for mobility is based on open standards and flexible software platforms. The innovative Juniper architecture enables mobile operators, such as AWCC to support a broad range of devices, applications and subscriber needs. As part of the network upgrade, AWCC will deploy a combination of mobile network edge services, including Juniper's breakthrough MX 3D Series Universal Edge Routers to offload traffic directly to the Internet, lowering network operating costs and latencies.

In addition to the MX Series, AWCC will deliver carrier Ethernet transport with the EX Series Ethernet Switches, and multiservice transport services with the M Series Multiservice Edge Routers, along with SRX Series Services Gateways for integrated security. The complete solution is based on Junos® software, a single source operating system that will enable AWCC to build and maintain a truly open and secure network.

"AWCC will be on the leading edge of regional mobile carriers. They needed to build a migration path to an Evolved Packet Core (EPC) that is seamless and protects its investments in existing network assets," said Manoj Leelanivas, executive vice president and general manager, Junos Ready Software at Juniper Networks. "Juniper's mobile product portfolio and innovative strategy will uniquely address AWCC's needs as it supports legacy circuit traffic while enabling graceful migration to an EPC that builds a long-term solution for the next decade of mobile computing."

AWCC was formed in connection with Atlantic Tele-Network's agreement to purchase wireless properties, licenses and network assets from Verizon Wireless. The sale of assets to ATN is expected to close in the second quarter of 2010.
