XO Communications Selects Juniper Networks MX960 Ethernet Services Routers for Deployment in High-Performance Nationwide IP Network
Leading Service Provider Increasing Capacity in Service-Enabling Edge Network
SUNNYVALE, Calif., September 22, 2008 -- Juniper Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: JNPR), the leader in high-performance networking, today announced that XO Communications is increasing its IP network capacity to support accelerating traffic growth and services with Juniper Networks MX960 Ethernet Services Routers. By deploying a service-enabling network based on the MX-series, XO Communications will be able reduce operational costs, while accelerating the speed with which it can introduce new services in response to increasing demand from enterprises and wholesale customers.

XO Communications is deploying Juniper Networks MX960 Ethernet Services Routers in major metropolitan locations nationwide, delivering a three-fold increase in capacity across the edge of the XO IP network to support services such as video streaming, voice over IP, gaming, ecommerce, and online file sharing. The MX960 platform is one of the largest-capacity Carrier Ethernet platforms available on the market today with up to 960 gigabits per second (Gbps) of switching and routing capacity, enabling more revenue per platform and providing the scalability to support the growth of the XO network.
The Juniper MX960 platform will be used to support a broad range of XO services, including High Speed IP Transit, IP-VPN and voice over IP (VoIP) services for businesses, large enterprises and wholesale customers. Specifically, the additional capacity will enable XO Communications to continue to meet customer demand for higher speed IP transit services at speeds of 1 Gbps and 10 Gbps.
