Leading Chinese Fast Food Franchise Improves Security and Productivity with Juniper Networks

Ajisen (China) Holdings Limited Empowers Distributed Enterprise and Mobile Workforce with High-Performance, Secure Network Infrastructure

SUNNYVALE, Calif., September 8, 2008 -- Juniper Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: JNPR), the leader in high-performance networking, today announced that Ajisen (China) Holdings Limited, the sole franchisee of Japan's Ajisen Ramen for Hong Kong, Macau and Mainland China, has boosted its organizational security and productivity with a Juniper Networks high-performance network infrastructure. The deployment of Juniper's comprehensive portfolio of routing, security and switching solutions is helping Ajisen reduce the cost, complexity and risk of delivering business-critical IT services to the company's mobile workforce and more than 243 retail locations across China.

"Juniper's high-performance network infrastructure is the cornerstone of business communications across our distributed enterprise," said Michael Wang, IT Director for Ajisen (China) Holdings Limited. "The robust VPN provides branch and mobile access to central business resources across the WAN, and secure, responsive networking at every location ensures productive use of our enterprise resource planning tools. Also, the integrated routing engine feature of the Juniper Networks EX-series switches gives us unparalleled operational flexibility with reduced footprint and overhead."

At each of its branch office locations, Ajisen deployed Juniper Networks EX 3200 series fixed-configuration switches. Juniper's EX-series switches enable Ajisen to deploy a high-performance network infrastructure based on three key tenets—operational simplicity, carrier-class reliability, and integrated security—to enable ubiquitous access to strategic assets, reduce network downtime and enhance overall security to shared assets across its extended enterprise. By leveraging the powerful JUNOS® software, EX-series switches utilize a single-source network operating system that can provide continuous carrier-class systems availability, automated network operations and the open innovation businesses demand to quickly align the network with changing business requirements.

Juniper Networks Integrated Security Gateway (ISG) 1000 and Secure Access (SA) 2000 devices deliver, respectively, Ajisen's IPSec-VPN across its branch locations, and SSL-VPN for remote access. The ISG 1000 is also a high-performance firewall, purpose-built to leverage a fourth generation security ASIC, the GigaScreen3, and high-speed microprocessors, to deliver robust performance. The support of Intrusion Detection and Prevention (IDP) via optional security modules enable the ISG to support full Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) capability. The SA 2000 uses SSL, the security protocol found in all standard Web browsers, to provide secure remote access to users. This eliminates needing any client-software deployment, changes to internal servers, and costly ongoing client maintenance and desktop support.

Ajisen also deployed J-series enterprise routers and Juniper firewalls at the more than 243 branch office locations. "Success in enterprise networking, as in the fast food business, demands safety and availability along with speed," said Eric Yu, Juniper's vice president of Greater China. "China's enterprises require a responsive and reliable communications infrastructure upon which to grow, as they capitalize on a booming consumer market. We are pleased that Ajisen recognizes the unique and powerful value proposition our open network infrastructure, which provides greater choice and control in quickly meeting business requirements and fueling its success."
