Cegelec Secures Remote Access with Juniper Networks
Integrated Solutions Provide Cost-Effective, Comprehensive Security Functions with Centralized Management
SUNNYVALE, Calif., February 28, 2008 — Juniper Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: JNPR), the leader in high-performance networking, today announced that Cegelec, a France-based technology services company dedicated to private enterprise and public authorities, has selected its secure routing and remote access solutions to improve the quality and accessibility of network resources for corporate users at hundreds of sites throughout Europe. The Juniper high-performance network infrastructure extends to Cegelec's major sites plus smaller branch sites, enabling Cegelec to provide secure remote access so that users can connect to business critical network resources safely and easily from home or other non-corporate locations.
The Juniper Networks Secure Services Gateway (SSG) firewall/VPN appliances integrate best-in-class firewall, IPSec VPN and optional unified threat management features such as antivirus, anti-phishing, anti spam, and web filtering, with high-performance routing capabilities in a single platform. Cegelec selected Juniper's SSG security appliances to update its existing routing infrastructure that links approximately 12 international branch sites, in addition to more than 150 small office-home office sites in France and other countries. The Juniper Networks NetScreen-Security Manager solution was also deployed to provide centralized management of the SSG network, enabling remote modification of routing or security rules automatically from a single source.

The secure remote access element of Cegelec's security upgrade is provided by the Juniper Networks market-leading Secure Access (SA) SSL VPN platform to provide browser-based authentication, health-check and remediation functionalities for hundreds of concurrent users requiring secure access to corporate network resources while working from home, hotels, airports, third party offices and other security sensitive remote locations. With Juniper's SA SSL VPN, new users can be brought online automatically, and ongoing system updates can be downloaded upon connection per user to ensure the most current security policy is applied to every user without prior access to their laptop.
