CSCI Standardizes on Juniper Networks SSL VPN for Remote Access Managed Service Offering for Small and Medium Businesses

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Dec. 13, 2004 - Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: JNPR) today announced that CSCI, a 19-year-old WAN integrator and service provider, has selected the Juniper Networks Remote Access 500 (RA 500) Secure Sockets Layer Virtual Private Network (SSL VPN) as the standard for their SSL VPN CPE-based managed service offering, called OfficeScreen SSL.

CSCI launched the OfficeScreen offering for small to medium-sized businesses in 2001. Standardizing on solutions ranging from the Juniper Networks NetScreen-5GT up to the Juniper Networks NetScreen-204 for their firewall and IPSec VPN solution, CSCI listened to customers and their need for a solution to remote client frustrations and greater ubiquity of access. Being extremely happy with the Juniper Networks solution, the newly announced RA 500 was the obvious choice for their new SSL VPN offering.

"The Juniper Networks Remote Access 500 is attractive because we serve SME (small and medium enterprise) businesses and need solutions for as few as 10 concurrent users," said Stephan Tallent, director of managed security at CSCI. "The Remote Access 500 makes SSL VPN technology affordable for the small business environment and is fast and easy to deploy. We've been implementing the Secure Access line for years, but that's a fit for our larger customers with bigger budgets."

Tallent added, "Juniper outperformed all other SSL VPN vendors we tested and we are now seeing a major competitive advantage due to our exclusivity with Juniper platforms."

CSCI also has employees using the Remote Access 500 internally for file upload and download from remote locations and is using the Juniper Networks firewalls and IDP products to actively protect the security operations center and provide intrusion detection and prevention against harmful attacks.

The Juniper Networks Remote Access 500 (RA 500) provides SMEs with a secure, cost-effective and easy-to-deploy solution for remote employees to access corporate networks. Built on the industry's leading SSL VPN platform - the Juniper Networks Instant Virtual Extranet (IVE) platform - the RA 500 appliances are optimized for SMEs with packaging, pricing and easy implementation tailored to this market. The RA 500 series leverages the most mature SSL VPN appliance in the industry, at a SME-oriented price starting at $4,000 USD.

The RA 500 series complements Juniper Networks' Secure Access SSL VPN product family, which offers broad access options, high performance scalability and access granularity tailored for sophisticated intranet and extranet environments. Both product lines leverage the robust security design of the IVE platform, which includes enterprise strength authentication, authorization and auditing (AAA); Juniper Endpoint Defense Initiative APIs that ensure integration with best-of-breed endpoint security products; and a core security architecture that has been audited by leading third-party security experts, such as TruSecure Corporation, Cryptography Research, Inc., and has been certified by ICSA Labs.

CSCI is also a member of Juniper Networks' MSSP Preferred Alliance partnership.
