iNOC Deploys Multiple Juniper Networks Products to Protect Network at the Largest Medical Meeting in the World

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Dec. 2, 2004 - Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: JNPR) today announced that iNOC, a managed network and security services company, has deployed multiple Juniper Networks products at the Radiological Society of North America's (RSNA) annual meeting currently taking place in Chicago.

RSNA is the largest medical meeting in the world with about 700 vendors, numerous scientific exhibits and over 60,000 attendees. The event is RSNA's 90th Scientific Assembly and Annual Meeting, bringing together radiologists and allied health scientists to one place to get access to the most current research results, cutting-edge technology and the chance to network with their peers.

iNOC is the company that designed, built and is currently managing the RSNA network (RSNAnet) for the annual meeting. RSNAnet, spans multiple exhibit halls across two million square-feet, has about 120 network closets and uses Gigabit Ethernet transport with a resilient IP/MPLS core. iNOC has been designing, building and managing RSNAnet every year for the last five years. The network allows attendees and exhibitors to check email, view and exchange PACS radiological images, access exhibit information and surf the web using their laptops, tablet PCs and PDAs.

iNOC deployed the Juniper Networks NetScreen-500 system to serve as the perimeter firewall solution for the RSNA's network. The NetScreen-500 system provides robust integrated firewall and virtual private network (VPN) functionality with up to 700 Mbps firewall performance and up to 250 Mbps of 3DES IPSec VPN throughput.

Juniper Networks NetScreen-IDP 1000s, which provide up to 1 GB throughput and operate in-line to accurately detect and drop malicious traffic in real-time before it reaches its victim, are deployed both inside the network on every connection, as well as outside on Internet connections to protect all data traversing the network.

iNOC has created a gigabit Ethernet backbone for the RSNAnet network with a flexible Layer 2 network over a resilient IP/MPLS core using Juniper M10 routers. The M-series routers provide secure and reliable IP/MPLS routing and services with uncompromising performance. The M-series routers boast a hardware based architecture with JUNOS software, a modern object oriented operating system. This architecture and JUNOS software ensures rich packet processing with uncompromising forwarding performance to support latency sensitive applications such as voice, video, and mission critical applications.

"The rich functionality and stability of Juniper Networks routers and security devices allowed us to focus on delivering services to attendees and exhibitors," said Rick Smith, Vice President of Engineering and Services at iNOC. "Using the Juniper Networks products, we were able to design an IP/MPLS network that allowed us to offer new services at the RSNA show. Maintaining reliability and performance on trade show networks is extremely challenging and this backbone design has allowed us to deliver 100% uptime."
